Privacy Policy

Handpix (the “App”) is developed and operated by the Handpix developer (“we”, “us”, or “our”). We understand how important your creations and personal information are. This Privacy Policy explains what information we come into contact with when you use the App, how we handle it, and the choices you have.

Our core principle is local-first, minimal collection. The App does not require an account and does not collect your name or phone number; your work is saved only on your own device by default.

1. Information We Collect and Process

1.1 Your Artwork and Creative Data

The bead patterns you create, the reference images you import, and related settings are saved on your device by default. If you enable iCloud for the App in your system settings, this data syncs across your own Apple devices via iCloud.

  • This data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud private database; cloud sync is provided by Apple and governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
  • The App does not upload your artwork content or reference images to our servers, nor use them for any purpose beyond providing the features described above.

1.2 Anonymous Usage Statistics and Diagnostics

In the App Store release, the App sends anonymous feature-usage statistics and fault diagnostics to our servers only after you give explicit permission. This may include:

  • Feature usage events (for example, that the app was launched, an artwork was opened, or a pattern was exported — without any artwork content);
  • App version and build number, the operating system major and minor version, and a broad device class (iPhone, iPad, or Mac);
  • A limited set of diagnostic counts and boolean states used to troubleshoot iCloud and on-device storage issues;
  • A randomly generated session identifier and in-session event order, used only to associate events from the same App process.

The release session identifier is never stored persistently and changes after the App process restarts, so it cannot be used to recognize you across sessions. The App Store release does not send a unique device identifier, artwork identifier, artwork content, drawing actions, text input, exact device model, name, or email, and does not use these statistics for advertising tracking. Before you opt in, or after you turn the setting off, the App does not record, buffer, or send this automatic telemetry.

The TestFlight beta uses a separate device-level diagnostic profile. To diagnose storage and sync failures recurring on the same beta device across sessions, the TestFlight build automatically sends a persistent beta device identifier, random UUIDs of relevant artworks, precise event times, the full operating-system version, device model, feature events, and limited diagnostic values. It still does not contain artwork content, drawing content, or text input, but it is not the App Store release’s anonymous v2 profile. When handling feedback submitted by a tester, we may manually associate a beta device record with a name or contact detail the tester voluntarily provides. The TestFlight build does not display the App Store release’s anonymous-statistics toggle.

1.3 Information You Provide

When you email us at [email protected], we receive your email address and the contents of your message, used solely to reply to you and improve the product.

1.4 Website (handpix.app)

If you leave your email on our website to request beta access, we store that email to send you an invitation. This is separate from the features within the App.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

  • Your artwork content, drawing process, or any input;
  • Your name, phone number, contacts, or precise location;
  • We do not use third-party advertising SDKs and do not perform ad tracking;
  • We do not sell your information to any third party.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above only to: save and sync your work, measure overall usage, diagnose and fix issues, respond to your feedback, and improve the App’s features and experience.

4. Storage and Sharing

  • Your artwork data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud space; sync is provided by Apple.
  • App Store anonymous usage statistics and diagnostics, and TestFlight device-level beta diagnostics, are stored in separate data tables on servers we operate.
  • Except as necessary to provide the services above (such as iCloud sync provided by Apple), we do not share your information with third parties, nor use it for advertising.

5. Data Security

The App is designed local-first: your work is first saved safely on your device, then synced to the cloud, to minimize the risk of data loss. We also apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we collect.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • Artwork data: You can delete artworks in the App at any time, or turn off iCloud sync for the App in your system settings; uninstalling the App removes local data.
  • iCloud: Whether to enable iCloud is entirely your choice in system settings.
  • App Store usage statistics: Choosing “Not now” in the first-run notice does not affect any core feature. If you opt in, you can later turn off “Send anonymous usage statistics” under Settings › Data & Sync. Turning it off stops recording and sending and deletes any unsent release telemetry buffer. Turning it on again starts with a new session identifier.
  • TestFlight beta diagnostics: The beta build does not provide that toggle. If you no longer want to send device-level beta diagnostics, stop using and uninstall the TestFlight build and use the App Store release instead.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is designed for general audiences, is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

8. Third-Party Services

  • Apple iCloud: Used to sync your work across your Apple devices; governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via this page or through appropriate means within the App, and update the “Last updated” date at the top.
